In this study, four large caged populations (15, 000 flies/cage) of D. melanogaster were established and maintained until all of the flies died (aˆ¼89 days). During the course of this experiment, D. melanogaster were sampled on days 5, 19, 31, 43, 61, and 75. mRNA was extracted for each time point, cleaned, and used for qRT-PCR analysis. From this data, multiple transcripts were observed to be either up- or down-regulated at different time points for various GST's. Microarray analysis from another experiment was used to compare the results of qRT-PCR.
